This course builds real world experience, capitalizing on everyday scenarios in Colorado’s front range. Students will develop critical awareness for maintenance decision making, monitoring, and implementation.
Day 1:
Develop and understanding of key terminology, regulatory frameworks, and development of restoration and/or establishment goals. This provides the basis for development of a yearly maintenance plan, crew allocation, and key concepts to provide a background for decision making. Afternoon field site visit will focus on collecting field data for use later days
Day 2:
Day 2 builds on previous topics, identifies project problems and successes, analyze field data, and identifies treatment methodology. Topics covered include factors impacting design, establishing success metrics, management approaches, and decision making.
Day 3:
Building on data collected on previous days, students will work in teams to build a complete maintenance plan and schedule for design sites, and discuss concepts for decision making during implementation, providing insight into future treatments.
